About

Hi, I'm Samantha.

I'm a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) in New York with over 14 years of experience in the field. I earned my Master of Social Work from Columbia University and my Bachelor of Social Work from the University of New Hampshire.

My background includes extensive work in mental health and forensic settings, including collaboration with courts, correctional facilities, psychiatric centers, and other legal systems. This experience has given me a deep understanding of the complexities individuals face when navigating both emotional challenges and systemic involvement. I also have a strong foundation in case management, helping clients access resources and move forward in practical, meaningful ways.

I work with individuals who may be feeling overwhelmed, navigating high-stress situations, or managing complex life circumstances. My approach is grounded in creating a supportive, nonjudgmental space where clients can feel understood while also gaining tools to cope, process, and grow. I strive to balance empathy with practical strategies, helping clients build insight, resilience, and confidence in their lives.

Whether you're facing something significant or just need a space to talk things through, no problem is too big or too small. Everyone deserves to be heard and supported.

In my free time, I enjoy being outdoors, playing volleyball, and signing up for races that seemed like a good idea at the time. When I'm resting, I'm fully committed to Boston sports... for better or worse.

Walk and talk

The pace is set by you. There is no need to rush, and we can walk as short or as far as you'd like during the session.

Why walk-and-talk?

Therapy works better in motion.

Walking and being outdoors aren't just nice extras. There's growing research that movement and nature actively support the work we do in session.

Movement eases anxiety

Walking lowers cortisol and boosts mood-regulating chemicals like serotonin and endorphins. Many clients find it easier to settle nervous energy when their body has somewhere to put it.

Side-by-side feels safer

Sitting across from a therapist can feel intense, especially for hard topics. Walking next to someone removes that pressure and tends to open up conversation that might feel stuck in an office.

Nature is regulating

Time in green spaces has been linked to lower blood pressure, reduced rumination, and improved attention. Trees, water, and open sky have a way of helping the nervous system reset.

Walking helps process

The rhythmic, bilateral motion of walking activates similar mechanisms to evidence-based therapies like EMDR. It can help integrate difficult experiences and shift how memories feel over time.

Walk-and-talk therapy is held to the same clinical and ethical standards as any traditional session. The setting is different. The work is the same.

Where we walk

Six favorite spots.

Each location opens in Google Maps for directions. If there's somewhere else you'd feel more comfortable, I'm happy to look into it too.

Fees & insurance

Straightforward pricing.

Sessions are $200 each, with payment due after the session. I accept credit cards, cash, checks, Zelle, and Venmo.

I am an out-of-network provider, which means I do not accept insurance directly. However, I can provide you with a superbill at the beginning of each month, which you can submit to your insurance for possible reimbursement. Many insurance plans reimburse 60 to 90 percent of out-of-network costs, provided your deductible has been met.

I recommend checking with your insurance company to confirm your out-of-network benefits in advance.

First consultation is free. We'll chat for 15 minutes to see if walk-and-talk therapy feels right for you.

FAQ

Common questions.

What happens if the weather is bad?

Sessions are offered year-round, in most weather conditions. For severe weather such as snowstorms, thunderstorms, or extreme temperatures, we have options. We can reschedule the session, or meet somewhere indoors like a cafe, library, or the mall and walk or sit there instead.

Where do you typically meet clients?

I typically see clients at Congers Lake, Piermont Pier, the Rail Trail, Rockland Lake, and Nyack Beach. That said, if there's somewhere else you feel comfortable or enjoy, I can look into whether that's an option too. The goal is for you to feel at ease.

How fast do we walk?

The walking pace is set by you. There is no need to rush, and we can walk as short or as far as you'd like during the session. Some clients prefer a brisk walk, others prefer a slow stroll, and some days we might sit on a bench. Whatever feels right.

How much does a session cost?

Sessions are $200 each and payment is due after each session. I accept credit cards, cash, checks, Zelle, and Venmo.

Do you accept insurance?

I am an out-of-network provider, which means I do not accept insurance directly. However, I can provide you with a superbill at the beginning of each month, which you can submit to your insurance for possible reimbursement. Many insurance plans reimburse 60 to 90 percent of out-of-network costs, provided your deductible has been met. I recommend checking with your insurance company to confirm your out-of-network benefits in advance.

How long is a session?

A session is 45 minutes.

Is walk-and-talk therapy right for me?

Walk-and-talk therapy suits a wide range of people, especially those who find traditional office settings uncomfortable, feel more open when moving, or simply enjoy being outdoors. Research has shown that movement like walking can help boost serotonin and reduce stress. The best way to find out if it's right for you is to book a free consultation so we can talk it through.

What happens during the free consultation?

The 15-minute consultation is a no-pressure phone or video chat. You can ask questions, share what you're looking for, and get a sense of how I work. If it feels like a fit, I'll send over intake paperwork. If not, I'm happy to help connect you with someone else.

What if I prefer to sit instead of walk?

That's completely fine. Many locations have benches, and we can always sit for part or all of the session. The format is flexible and built around what you need that day.

Is what we talk about confidential?

Yes. Our sessions follow the same confidentiality standards as any licensed therapy practice. I'm mindful of privacy during walks and we can adjust routes or locations if you have concerns about being overheard.

For professionals

Building a referral network.

Are you a therapist, physician, social worker, or other healthcare provider? I'd love to connect.

If you have clients who might benefit from walk-and-talk therapy, or if you're looking for a trusted referral partner for your own practice, please reach out. I believe strong professional relationships lead to better outcomes for clients, and I'm always happy to collaborate with providers who share that perspective.
